Flash Fiction: Marriage

They’d been together for 60 years; 62 if you count the years they wrote letters—hundreds of them, couriered from Korea to her parent’s home in Georgia.

He asked for her hand in one letter, and she said yes, of course. But she didn’t receive a ring for another year. She didn’t mind.

This many years together means that each of them has seen each other’s worst. It means a lot of pain and fights, but also extraordinary amounts of love, and dedication.

When they look at each other, they see themselves at their best and worst all at once. And they are grateful for all of it.
