Images and Writing by Laura Marie Cieplik

About the Artist:

Originally from the Southeast of France, Laura Marie Cieplik started her artistic journey in the French capital at the age of 20, immersing herself in the worlds of fashion and cinema. Her artistic exploration took a turn in 2012 when she discovered a real passion for photography, a medium that soon became her preferred mode of visual expression. In a digitally ever-evolving world, Laura Marie has flourished in the precious and timeless art of analog photography. Beyond its unique aesthetics, the choice of this medium is also a commitment to slowing down time. In a world that often values speed and convenience, she advocates for the importance of patience and deliberation in artistic creation. Self-taught, Laura Marie is driven by passion and enriched by years of experience in the social sector. She likes to explore themes such as youth, sexual identity, gender, dreams, and inner life in her work. Laura Marie's artistic vision revolves around the pursuit of beauty in spontaneity, capturing the emotional essence of each person she photographs. Inspired by realness, moments of everyday life, she loves to see beauty where others would dwell on imperfections; embracing individuality, authenticity, and life's scars—all of which she seeks to elevate through her imagery. Her work embodies a fusion of fantasy, romance, and grunge.

About the Projects:

Afternoon Angels (photo 1&3): Delphine and her son Ellis walking down a street. From the Afternoon Angels project, in collaboration with hairstylist Olivier Noraz and Art Director Arthur Morisset. It was about capturing the beauty of everyday moments through an otherworldly point of view.  We traveled the whole day through different places, witnessing beautiful mother/son moments ; It was all about capturing what was existing there, two angels dropped in a city, with very fragile hair wings on the head.

Zenobia's Dreams (photo 5,7,&9) : Zenobia on her bed in London. "Zenobia's Dreams" is a photo project diving into the boundary between reality and imagination through Zenobia's vivid dreams. Each picture tells a unique story, drawing viewers into the intimacy of sleep and dreams. Zenobia herself, captured in slumber, is the focal point of this exploration. We travelled to various locations, from her London flat to the Dorset countryside, capturing dream-inspired scenes amidst windy hills and stormy shores.

Wedding Dress (photo 8): Jean, a model/dancer I've been shooting for years. A muse to my friend Kaduri Elyashar and myself. He was wearing a wedding dress, and I loved the contrast between the dreamlike quality of the dress, resembling a cloud, and the rawness of Jean's posture on the couch.
